What do you get when you put 3 different intelligent, hard-working, individuals who are striving for success in life in the same place? You get Nitty Gritty Committee (NGC). Marcus Edwards AKA M.Dizz, Tyrell Slappey AKA Young Slapz, and Stephen Vines-Harvin AKA DJ Bonecrusher. While attending Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI they all sat in their dorm rooms pondering in what life had in store for them and knew that they each had a different skill and talent and were born to entertain and bring happiness to people they formed NGC.
Marcus Edwards, the calm intellectual of the group. Making beats since the age of 14 while attending Lewis Cass Technical High School in Detroit,MI (with Young Slapz and DJ Bonecrusher) knew his talent would only grow with time, using the world-famous Fruity Loops Production Studio, M.Dizz made about 3 beats a day, just to progress his skill and make them better, then he soon found that his wordplay was slick and clever, and his metaphors only topped it off. He was a jack of all trades.
Tyrell Slappey, the Hot-Head but silly and outgoing member of the group, also noticed he had a craft in writing and a skilled way with words, he could talk himself out of any situation and could make the angriest of people seem to wonder why they were anger in the first-place. Growing up on the mean streets of Detroit's east-side he had to have that craft or fight it out with any people who stood in his way. He grew up with skilled rappers such as Yung Good, Errogant, Trace, G.Wood, Krystylez, and now G.O.O.D. Music Artist Big Sean. He never tried to rap or get on tracks with anybody but he always would play around and right things and act as if he were about to freestyle until one day he put his wordplay into action on one of M.Dizz's original instrumentals. His style and delivery and smart way with words made him ride the beat out like a pro.
Stephen Vines-Harvin, the anger one of the group, was trying to find his way in to how he could support his two friends. he didn't rap or make beats but he critiqued them ever time they made a song with strong criticism, until they finally realized that Stephen was good at getting a people hyped up and talking smack over tracks, so as comic relief they placed in skits, and made him act as a mixtape DJ, hilarious...
So these 3 friends yet so different had found their calling at Michigan state University and embarked on a journey to create a mixtape about what they knew, and that was the hoods of detroit, schools, and girls. They all have had trails and tribulations in life and wanted to get their story and their words out there to be heard.
And connecting with other local artist such as Lyricz, Young Scolla, JFin, Octane, and anybody else I did not mention before will only make them stronger.
So thats what you get when you get a bunch of "civilized thugs" (since everybody seems to think they are no THUGS in college) striving for their time to shine and entertain.
This where it begins...."Skool Boi Chronikles Vol. 1: Class Is In Session" coming soon....
p.s. they have a group as a whole called "Skool Boyz" cuz shit the niggas is in school this consist of Glen Woodward "G.Wood" and Demonte Francis "Lyricz"
MARCUS EDWARDS AKA M.DIZZ (PRODUCER/RAPPER)
TYRELL SLAPPEY AKA YOUNG SLAPZ (RAPPER)
STEPHEN VINES-HARVIN (HYPEMAN)
